Orthopedic Bodywork

As an Orthopedic Massage Therapist, the work I perform is intended to relieve pain imbalance at the joint level, and my approach is myofascial. I also employ NeuroKinetic Therapy, which helps to reeducate the nervous system and relieve unhealthy compensation patterns. I urge my clients to couple this work with Pilates, as changing unhealthy and inefficient movement patterns is essential to breaking cycles of stress and pain in a body.

What is an orthopedic bodywork session like? These sessions are more active than traditional massage, with clients hopping off of the table or equipment to recheck muscle tests, perform Pilates exercises, or go through daily activities that tend to be problematic , all so that we can track progress and reenforce proper movement patterns. Bodywork sessions are conducted with clothes on. Clients are asked to wear items that will allow me to easily access the relevant muscles and joints. Shorts, loose t-shirts, and tank tops or sports bras work great. These are fun, active sessions that tend to go by quickly and feel great!

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

This deeply relaxing massage aids the body's immune system to function more efficiently, can help relieve pain associated with certain types of edema, reduces stress and aids sleep by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, and can be helpful to those recovering from surgery, illness, injury, toxic exposure, or who want to improve performance. Full body MLD is comprised of a series of 90 minute sessions, and consists of clearing all the major lymph nodes in the body, as well as focusing on specific areas of concern. These may include the neck and head, upper trunk and extremities, and lower trunk and extremities. It is not necessary to do all three sections of the body, however it is necessary to follow a particular order through the body. To learn more about MLD, or to schedule a session, please inquire for more details.

*Please note: Manual Lymphatic Drainage is safe for most people, with a few exceptions. MLD is not appropriate, or must be performed under the guidance of a MD, for individuals who are experiencing major organ failure (heart, liver, kidney), and those who are currently undergoing treatment for lymphoma.
